MCW Custom Energy Solutions, is currently seeking a self-motivated, hardworking individual to join the Toronto based Mechanical Engineering Department. This is an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Engineering Student who is interested in pursuing a career in environmental energy savings and is looking to gain valuable hands-on work experience in a fast paced engineering consultancy. 

Position:  Mechanical Engineering Student (Energy Services)

Objective: The candidate will be a key member of the Mechanical Engineering team within our Custom Energy Solutions Group.

Location: Toronto, ON

Start Date: Monday January 6, 2020

Duration: 4-month Co-op term with potential for extension.

Reports to: Senior Mechanical Engineer

Responsibilities: The Responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to the following:

  • Assisting with energy savings calculations
  • Assessing the operation of mechanical systems
  • Assisting with the preparation of design drawings, specifications and design packages.
  • Collecting and analyzing equipment operation data.

Education & Experience: 

  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology, or another related discipline such as Sustainable Building Systems.
  • Experience working in a consulting environment or in a field complimentary to energy management.
  • An interest in energy conservation and green building technology.
  • Experience working with clients or in a customer service role is considered an asset.
  • An understanding of building systems and the design and construction process
  • The ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
  • Experience working in a team based environment.

Technical Abilities: 

  • Proficient in MS Office Suite with an emphasis on Excel
  • Working knowledge or experience with AutoCAD and/or REVIT an asset.
  • Familiarity with HVAC systems is considered an asset.
