MCW Custom Energy Solutions, is currently seeking a self-motivated, hardworking individual to join our team! This is an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Engineering Technology student who is interested in pursuing a career in environmental energy savings and is looking to gain valuable hands-on work experience in a fast paced engineering consultancy. This exciting work-integrated learning opportunity, offers the opportunity to work on various performance based energy savings projects in Nunavut (Kivalliq, Iqaluit, Hudson Bay and Baffin Island)
Position: Mechanical or Environmental Sciences Co-op Student
Objective: The candidate will be a key member of the Energy Services and Mechanical Engineering Team within our Custom Energy Solutions Group.
Location: Winnipeg, MB or Toronto, ON or Halifax, Nova Scotia with the opportunity to work in Iqaluit, Kivalliq, Hudson Bay, Baffin Island
Travel: Some work-related travel will be required for this position, and will be at the cost of the Company.
Start Date: January 7 2019 or a mutually agreed upon earlier date.
Duration: 4-8 month Co-op Term with potential for extension.
Reports to: Program Manager and Construction Manager
The Responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to the following:
- On-site Energy Auditing assistance
- Assisting with energy savings calculations
- Assessing the operation of mechanical systems
- Assisting with the preparation of design drawings, specifications and design packages.
- Collecting and analyzing equipment operation data.
Education & Experience:
- Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology, or another related discipline such as Sustainable Building Systems.
- Experience working in a consulting environment or in a field complimentary to energy management is not a requirement but would be an asset.
- An interest in energy conservation and green building technology.
- An understanding of building systems and the design and construction process
- The ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
- Experience working in a team based environment.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite with an emphasis on Excel
- Some knowledge of MS Visio and/or AutoCAD is considered an asset.
- Familiarity with HVAC systems is considered an asset.
