    David focuses on new business opportunities and strategic planning for MCW, and on helping clients plan for their mechanical, electrical, and energy infrastructure needs. His expertise is delivered through intimate involvement in systems concept design, ongoing energy management innovation, technical quality assurance, and project management standards. He has spearheaded many applications of new energy saving technologies and products in HVAC building designs.

    John is involved in providing total working design of all electrical, security and communications systems. With over three decades of experience in both the professional electrical consulting engineering and electrical contracting fields, his role includes providing guidance to project engineers and drafting personnel, assisting in the coordination and executing work in the electrical and mechanical disciplines.
  • Colin J. Rabnett

    An architect by training, Colin has a special interest in building performance and finding innovative, cost-effective ways of creating better buildings. In the early 1990s, he helped spearhead the diversification of MCW Consultants into the Energy Management Services and Performance Contracting industry, and more recently, has been involved in piloting international energy services partnering initiatives. In this capacity, Colin has gained tremendous experience in developing, delivering and structuring financing for Energy Management Services in a variety of sectors, including institutional, commercial, municipal and industrial clients.

    Bob’s extensive background includes valuable hands-on trades experience as a professional electrical engineer specializing in transmission and distribution fields. Bob spearheaded MCW’s entry to the substation transmission and distribution design markets and manages this division (AGE Power) across Canada and Internationally.

    Robert brings over three decades of experience to the MCW team, and has developed a number of innovative designs for lighting, lighting control and natural light, using high-speed networking of BAS, occupancy and daylight controls. His other specialties include emergency power and UPS systems, as well as data centres and other facilities requiring robust reliability.

    Elliott brings over two decades of award-winning electrical engineering experience in the cultural, recreational, educational, commercial, and institutional sectors. His work demonstrates excellence in solutions for healthcare, entertainment and other special use areas, as well as in custom lighting designs and illumination techniques. With an MBA that complements his electrical engineering knowledge, he is able to provide comprehensive management support for sophisticated commercial, institutional and municipal initiatives known for innovative, energy efficient design.
  • Michael Gillis

    Managing Partner, MCW Consultants Ltd.
    Michael is a specialist in heat recovery technology in recreational facilities, which captures heat and reuses it throughout the buildings. He has presented many seminars/workshops on sustainable design and energy efficiency for recreational facilities across Canada, and provides engineering consulting services to Natural Resources Canada as an Energy Efficiency Training Program Instructor. In his role as Managing Partner, Michael is responsible for project delivery from conception through completion, and for business development, quality assurance and client satisfaction for all mechanical, electrical and energy engineering projects. His strength lies in offering clients his comprehensive, multi-disciplinary perspective to their design challenges.

    Michael has worked in the building services consulting and contracting industry since for over three decades. As Partner, his responsibilities include the management and supervision of projects from concept through completion.     The recipient of the University of Manitoba Faculty of Engineering Gold Medal, Ken is a talented innovator who has spent his more than four decade career involved in electrical construction. He earned a journeyman license, owned his own electrical contracting firm, then worked with several electrical engineering consulting firms, joining MCW Consultants Ltd. in 1999. His extensive practical experience, attention to detail and commitment to client satisfaction and design excellence all contribute to successful projects.

    John gained practical design experience in the consulting engineering field early in his career. With this experience he developed skills and expertise beyond systems design to include unparalleled knowledge in ASHRAE compliance regulations, equipment selection, life safety systems, plumbing systems, building automation, tender documentation and site supervision. As the General Manager of MCW Custom Energy Solutions Ltd., he applies these skills to direct our companies integrated resources to execute turnkey energy services projects across Canada.

    Stephen has been actively involved in the building services industry since 1978. He has extensive experience in the design of mechanical systems for institutional heath care, educational, commercial and industrial buildings, as well as solid experience in contracting and project management. Stephen has unique abilities in the development of design concepts providing quality assurance throughout their execution and ensuring project success.

    Ted develops and leads energy conservation and building renewal programs with the aim of improved building performance. From strategy formulation to implementation, he is involved in all aspects of project delivery, including the integration of green building technologies into new and retrofit applications. Having lived and worked from coast to coast in Canada, Ted understands the unique regional requirements of program delivery. He applies this knowledge to produce better buildings for our clients, and is deeply committed to technical innovation, quality assurance and customer satisfaction.

    With over two decades of innovative mechanical engineering experience, Sam’s expertise lies in combining energy modeling with industrial and commercial design. Throughout his consulting engineering career, he has designed diverse projects that range from high-tech manufacturing facilities and laboratories to animal shelters and schools. A number of his projects have received prestigious awards for innovation and energy efficiency.

He focuses on schematic design, design development, contract supervision and liaison with other consultants and construction administration.
  • Willie Perez

    Willie has worked as a mechanical engineer and project manager since 1982. Over the years, he has gained a wide base of knowledge on institutional and commercial design, including design-assist and design-build projects. Willie is very experienced at ensuring proper resources are available at all stages of a project design. Willie is responsible for design concepts, providing quality assurance throughout a project and providing ultimate accountability for MCW’s effort from start to finish of all projects under his leadership.

    Steve is responsible for business development, quality assurance, and client satisfaction for all of MCW/AGE Consulting Professional Engineers mechanical engineering projects. He is also the lead contact for MCW Custom Energy Solutions in Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario. Steve is a strong advocate of green design and utility reduction strategies for new and retrofit construction. He frequently attends symposiums and conferences as a speaker, promoting energy efficiency and improved mechanical design practices.

    After many years of diverse experience with electrical utilities and as a consultant, Andrew provides innovation and excellence in transmission, distribution and generation engineering, project management and design services across Canada. Andrew has responsibilities for the delivery of these services across Canada.
  • Carman C. Travis

    Partner, MCW Consultants Ltd.
    Carman directs most of MCW Maricor's major energy management and energy efficiency initiatives in Atlantic Canada. As project manager and/or engineering manager, he leads teams of energy engineers, designers, construction managers, data analysts and commissioning authorities to develop and deliver comprehensive energy master plans for clients with large infrastructure portfolios. One area of specific focus is business planning and strategic energy asset planning with owners. Carman has extensive experience in new LEED and high performance new construction projects, as well as major renovations and modernizations. His projects have won awards at the Premier’s Awards for Energy Efficiency in 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012.
  • Gregory Lord

    Managing Partner, MCW Consultants Ltd.
    Gregory heads up business management and strategic planning for the West Coast offices. He is active in local business development and marketing, and participates in corporate committees. A trained electrical engineer with MCW since 1997, he has completed a diverse range of projects constructed across Canada and abroad. Gregory takes particular pride in offering clients his thoughtful and multi-disciplinary perspective to their design challenges, and continues to maintain a busy schedule as project manager on numerous client projects.
  • Janet Williams

    Partner, MCW Custom Energy Solutions Ltd.
    With over two decades of experience with MCW, Janet first joined MCW Consultants Ltd. as a mechanical design engineer in the Tenant Department. Soon after, she joined MCW Custom Energy Solutions Ltd. where she developed her knowledge and expertise in all aspects of Energy Performance Contracting including auditing, design, contract administration and program management. Under her leadership, MCW has executed many successful projects in the educational, municipal, federal and healthcare sectors.
  • Tim Jantzi

    Tim has been providing mechanical and electrical consulting engineering services for commercial, institutional, industrial and residential projects since 1982. He is a designated Consulting Engineer, a full member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers, and an Affiliate Member of the Association of Registered Interior Designers of Ontario. In addition to his position within the MCW Group of Companies, he teaches in the Architectural Science Program at Ryerson University.

    Brad brings over 26 years of experience to the MCW Hemisphere Mechanical Engineering Team. He is well known in the industry for his in-depth knowledge, engineering expertise, and results driven/client focused approach. His project experience includes schools, hospitals, healthcare facilities, office buildings, laboratories, aircraft fueling and hazardous waste facilities, mechanical system upgrades, major retail facilities, swimming pools, and fire and failure investigations.
  • John Chomiak

    John started his career in mechanical design in 1961. In 1962 he joined Vinto Engineering, eventually rising to become President and CEO of that business – which came to be called Hemisphere Engineering Inc. Under John’s leadership, the company enjoyed decades of growth, success, and a highly respected position in the Alberta marketplace. A well-known member of the Calgary and Edmonton business scenes, John is heavily involved in the community, and serves on a number of Boards and committees. In 2015, John merged Hemisphere Engineering with the MCW Group of Companies, and presently serves an ambassador role with the new Alberta business entity – MCW Hemisphere Ltd.
  • James Furlong

    Principal, MCW Hemisphere Ltd.
    James is dedicated to providing clients with creative, high performance solutions that fit the needs and budgets of the facility, owner and occupants. His expertise in mechanical technology and sustainability has led him to work on many exciting projects in the commercial, hospitality, education, recreation, residential, industrial, municipal and healthcare sectors. In addition to his design experience, James is a Certified Energy Manager and is active in the energy retrofit industry. James is also enthusiastic about education and the pursuit of knowledge. He helps develop green building technology curriculum for both the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology and SAIT Polytechnic and is a member of the Canada Green Building Council’s Faculty.
  • Dick Jarvis

    For over 45 years, Dick Jarvis has been designing, consulting, and successfully completing projects which span a variety of industry sectors including significant work with school boards throughout Alberta. Due to his significant experience in all aspects of the Electrical Engineering design process, Dick can guide his team in producing detailed and constructible design documents which not only meet the requirements for this new school but support and enhance the architectural vision for this new facility. Dick has been an integral part of the successful completion of over 4,000 projects in Western Canada, Northern Canada and the Western United States and is a proven leader within the MCW Hemisphere team.
  • Desmond Lau

    Principal, MCW Consultants Ltd.
    Desmond has over 20 years of experience and brings with him widespread experience with consulting engineering firms in both Toronto and Hong Kong. He has managed projects ranging from institutional, healthcare, railway, industrial and residential. He establishes and maintains positive relationships with key stakeholders to assure projects run smoothly. His main expertise areas include electrical, lighting, lighting control, communication, fire alarm, low voltage systems and system integration. Desmond is fellow and senior member of international professional institutions and also a long-term volunteer for local associations.
  • Vern Mantai

    Principal, MCW Hemisphere Ltd.
    Vern is considered a leading engineer in power and systems for building complexes. His career has spanned over 40 years; the last 30 of which have been focused on institutional and buildings engineering involving the full spectrum of design, construction and commissioning. During this period, Vern has broadened his expertise to include technology systems and lighting. As Principal Engineer, Vern oversees the work and is involved throughout all phases of the project, from conceptual design to tender, construction and commissioning. He is responsible for the overall coordination of the electrical design and follows through until completion.
  • Todd McGaw

    As a Principal Mechanical Engineer, Todd plays an integral role in the organization and leadership of delivery of mechanical engineering services. He takes an active senior management leadership role providing guidance and direction to our senior, intermediate and junior technical professionals. Over the past 20+ years he has expanded his breadth of experience to include management, building technical design, field observation and building commissioning. Todd has a demonstrated ability to manage both multiple diverse projects as part of an integrated multidisciplinary team as well as managing multiple disciplines in a complete building delivery model. As a LEED Accredited Professional in both Canada and the United States, Todd embraces sustainability and green initiatives. His sustainable approaches include many energy and resource conscious methodologies such as ground source heat pumps, solar supplemental heating, solar domestic hot water, composting toilets, high efficiency heating and cooling systems, combined in-slab heating/cooling, and multiple waste heat recovery approaches. Todd has facilitated or participated on over twelve LEED projects.
  • Ray Niepage

    Ray has been working in the Canadian Consulting Engineering business since his graduation from Queen’s University in 1983. He has extensive experience in a wide variety of project types, in particular municipal and institutional projects such as recreational facilities, community centres, libraries, police and fire stations, and educational facilities. Ray takes the lead as Principal-in-Charge and Senior Mechanical Project Engineer on projects.
  • Gerry Nunn

    Gerry joined the building services industry with the MCW Group of Companies in 1979, and became Program Manager for MCW Custom Energy Solutions in 2000. In this capacity, his responsibilities include business development, client liaison, and overall program management for all MCW|CES projects in Western Canada. Gerry brings over 20 years of direct project management and energy service experience, including 35+ years of engineering experience to the MCW Group of Companies. Gerry is a highly experienced Project Management Professional, responsible for some of MCW|CES’s largest and most complex energy performance contracts. Gerry became a Principal with MCW in 2013 and is a key advisor in overseeing MCW|CES’s operations in the United Kingdom.
  • Jorge Perez-Stone

    Principal, MCW Consultants Ltd.
    Jorge brings extensive experience in the building services industry specializing in engineering, design and construction support of mechanical systems. His expertise lies in the mechanical design of plumbing, high efficiency heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems for high-rise, commercial and institutional building. As Principal-in-Charge and Senior Mechanical Engineer on projects, Jorge works closely with designers, job captains, CAD technicians, contractors, manufacturers and clients to ensure the best engineering solutions are achieved.
  • Sean Piper

    Sean has recently joined MCW Hemisphere; he brings with him over a decade of mechanical engineering and project management experience in areas including educational, post-secondary, office, sports and recreation, light industrial, public transit facilities as well as various energy management initiatives. As a senior leader of the MCW team, Sean assumes project responsibilities from conceptual design through to construction and warranty phases. With both design and project delivery skill sets, coupled with his understanding of energy and overall to mechanical design that balances practicality with sustainability, Sean ensures quality projects for our valued clients.

    Wolf joined MCW as Principal in 2014, bringing an extensive background in all aspects of electrical design in both commercial and institutional projects. He is particularly skilled in coordinating electrical designs for large projects, in addition to developing energy-efficient and architecturally-sensitive lighting designs. Prior to joining MCW, Wolf managed his own electrical engineering consulting firm, Schenke Bawol Engineering Ltd.

    With over 20 years’ experience in building control systems and performance tuning, Forbes brings MCW a high level of expert knowledge related to HVAC system and equipment operations. As well as managing the day-to-day business of MCW Dimax Ltd., Forbes specializes in converting “big data” into actionable information in the form of measures that clients can implement to improve building performance.
  • Paul Silverthorne

    In a career spanning more than four decades, Paul has pioneered many energy optimization designs and processes, initially as a consulting engineer and later as the CEO of a boutique building automation system company. Paul brings specialized expertise to MCW in the fields of mission critical facilities, telephony processes and the integration of the “internet of things” into real-time wide area data acquisition.
  • Bruce Thompson

    Principal, MCW Maricor
    Bruce joined MCW Consultants Ltd. in 2011 when his former company, Thompson Engineering Consultants Ltd., joined forces with MCW Maricor. As manager of the Truro office, Bruce is responsible for project delivery through completion, as well as for business development, quality assurance, and client satisfaction for all mechanical, electrical and energy engineering projects. With over 35 years of experience in electrical engineering and project management, Bruce prides himself on providing innovative solutions on time and within an agreed upon budget. He has been providing mechanical and electrical consulting engineering services for commercial, institutional, industrial and residential projects since 1979.
  • Brian Tysoe

    Principal, MCW Consultants Ltd.
    With overall leadership responsibility for Energy Modelling and Sustainable Design Services within the MCW Group of Companies, Brian leads a team of experienced professionals in the execution of detailed performance simulations of new and existing buildings for a wide range of energy-related applications including LEED, Energy Code compliance, AFP and EPC project guarantees, and early-stage design evaluation. Brian is CaGBC Experienced Modeller, an ASHRAE Building Energy Modelling Professional, and a former part-time faculty member in the School of Applied Technology, Sustainable Energy & Building Technology Program at Humber College.
  • Paul Wilson

    Paul joined MCW AGE Power Consultants as Western Division Manager with over 26 years’ experience in management, engineering, operations, and maintenance of large electric utilities. Paul’s work in the electrical transmission, distribution, and generation sectors includes extensive international experience, with projects in Saudi Arabia, Nigeria, Liberia, East Timor, Mozambique and other countries in Africa, Asia, Europe and South America. Paul worked diligently with foreign governments, trade commissions, international funding institutions, local agents and other representatives during contract negotiation and execution of the projects to ensure their success. Paul became a Principal in 2016.
