Project Description
Rogers Place is an exciting initiative between the City of Edmonton and Katz Entertainment Group bringing a world class entertainment facility to the downtown core. Rogers Place serves as home for the NHL Edmonton Oilers, WHL Edmonton Oil Kings, and is a major venue for concerts and other major productions. The capacity for sporting events is over 18,500 and close to 21,000 for the concert configuration. Rogers Place is the catalyst to an entire downtown revitalization and is linked with a new community rink to be used by both MacEwan University and minor hockey associations. The facility also connects with a series of new buildings including a variety of entertainment, retail, office, and residential complexes.
MCW Hemisphere is the Engineering firm of Record providing mechanical engineering, contract documentation, and contract administration services for Rogers Place Arena. The facility is LEED Silver Certified and will includes a variety of sustainable initiatives as it relates to HVAC, plumbing, and refrigeration systems. To ensure an energy efficient building, several mechanical considerations were implemented. These included condensing boilers, high efficiency domestic hot water heaters, air-to-air heat recover systems and variable speed chillers.
