Project Description
Destroyed by arson in 2009, the Kelly and Ramsey buildings remained derelict and uninhabited until 2013 when demolition of the historic buildings began. The Kelly Ramsey Tower is a new focal point of Downtown Edmonton. At a cost of $180 million dollars, this new 27 storey building houses two (2) floors of retail space, 23 floors of office space, a two (2) story mechanical/services penthouse and five (5) levels of underground parking. The first four (4) floors of the building forms a pedestal for the tower and will wear a carefully reassembled brick façade catalogued and preserved from the original buildings.
The tower links by an above ground pedway to Manulife Place and by and underground pedway to Scotia Place and the city’s Light Rail Transit System (LRT). The building is targeting LEED Gold Core and Shell. MCW Hemisphere Ltd. is provided the electrical and mechanical consulting services on the building. Mechanical systems include heating, humidification, cooling, controls, plumbing, and fire protection.
