Project Description
This project involved the tender and construction of a new RCMP detachment building, intended to accommodate the expanding needs of the RCMP personnel. The existing detachment was no longer able to meet the needs of its occupants, which had grown to 18 members and nine civilian staff and volunteers; the overflow from the detachment was being housed in a trailer attached to the north end.
The exterior façade is a mixture of corrugated metal panels, textured concrete blocks, and prefinished metal windows. The roof is a sloping gable style, finished with prefinished metal panels and dormer windows that allow natural light into the public and administration areas of the main floor. The main floor features the police functional areas, the administration and clerical areas, and the public entrance. A separate mezzanine area houses the mechanical and electrical services.
Electrical Systems Description:
During the design stage, the client requested changes to the scope of work. These included additional wiring for the PTSS room (security, racks, and patch panels), CCVE cabling, and review and relocation of additional data outlets.
